Steve Harris is a journalist and media entrepreneur of more than 30 years’ standing. He worked in newspapers for six years in Darlington and Bradford then in radio for five years. He moved to Southern TV in 1980 and then worked for TVS as a regional reporter and interviewer until 1992.
An experienced media trainer, Steve jointly established the post-graduate Broadcast Journalism Training Course at Highbury College in Portsmouth in 1981, where he also taught part time until 1990. He is Accreditation Secretary of the Broadcast Journalism Training Council and is responsible for assessing all broadcast journalism courses in the UK. Steve is currently busy managing his own consultancy business, which specialises in work for commercial radio and the emerging local television sector.
He is also a highly experienced presenter of live events, including more than 500 dealer based presentations across the UK.
Steve has provided Media Skills training for more than 20 years. Past and present clients include Hampshire County Council, Isle of Wight Council, Hampshire Probation, Royal Institute of Town Planners.
Steve has worked with Human Resource Solutions over several years as the trainer on their ever popular
Media Skills training course. This course which is presented as one of several in-house “Open” training courses is offered several times a year on a strictly restricted numbers basis.
